Shade Gardening - Decorating Lamp Shades - Sheer Canopy Bed Drapes
- Shade gardens are gardens planted and grown in areas with little or no direct sunlight during the day, either under trees or on the shady sides of buildings. Shade gardening presents certain challenges, in part because only certain plants are able to grow in shady conditions.
Things I Did This Week (that kept me from Flickr) Shade Garden 1
I decided that THIS was the year I would finally start a shade garden in the cooler area on the east side of the yard...lots of trees, thick grass, great views from the "living" areas (which is mainly the kitchen!)
Tiller conked out on me so most of the Texas clay and gumbo had to be dug and worked by hand...and of course even though I began the project in nice 70 degree breezes we immediately hit record highs of 98-100!!
Beginning of the shade garden
The shade garden begins here and winds its way along the rest of this side and the back of the back yard. The shade comes from several live oak trees, a koelreuteria tree and a Chinese pistache tree.
